Shawn A. McMullen
Shawn grew up in northern Virginia just 20 miles outside of Washington, D.C., so she says she feels like a northerner. But she's a Carolina Panthers and North Carolina State Wolfpack fan through and through, which at least makes her an honorary southerner, doesn't it? She also used to handle the marketing for Nascar accounts, so she knows plenty about some of the South's grand passions.
Shawn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from North Carolina State University, where she minored in International Studies and was on the Dean's List every semester. She then completed two Marketing and Public Relations internships, one of which was at Rosen. So, she was already a part of the Rosen family before she took her current position as Client Liaison.
Besides her work, Shawn finds lots of time to volunteer for organizations like "Links to Literacy" and "Champions are Readers." Once a year, she does community service jobs for Service Raleigh. When she's not working or volunteering, she loves to spend time with her pets - a cat named Lilybell and a two-year old dwarf lop-eared rabbit named Scooter.
Shawn admits to having some wanderlust, though. She wants to travel the world, and as much as she loves public relations, she has long held the dream of becoming a marine biologist. She even studied biology at NC State for a couple of years before switching to public relations. And she once won two tickets to Discovery Cove in Florida where she got to swim with dolphins. That's Shawn's brand of heaven!
Another brand of heaven for Shawn, however, is knowing at the end of the day that she has helped someone feel better just by being willing to listen and empathize with what they're going through.
