Paulette Martin testimonial

“Reaching a settlement is not simply about two signatures on a piece of paper.”

Paulette Martin, a middle-aged woman with grown children and grandchildren was suddenly faced with divorce after more than thirty years of marriage. She hoped for a reconciliation but found that her husband was determined to end their marriage and go his own way. Confused and uncertain of what to do, she contacted the Rosen Law Firm because of the firm’s excellent reputation in the community. She says, “I first met with Lisa Angel, and her warm and sensitive approach during our meeting convinced me that I was in the right place. She knew how difficult it was for me to tell my story, to voice my concerns, to admit my confusion, to ask for help. I could not have opened up to just anyone, to express out loud for the first time what had happened to me.”

Unfortunately, it took months of negotiation to reach a settlement, and during this period, Paulette says she agonized “in a kind of limbo,” unable to make any plans for her future. Throughout the process, however, she says that her attorney was “always there for me.” She remarks, “He recognized there were days when I felt strong and determined, and he encouraged me. He also saw there were days of weakness and frustration, and he gave me the space I needed to absorb what was happening and to recharge.” Throughout the process, she appreciated Rosen’s set fees because she never had to worry about charges piling up as she stayed in constant contact with her attorney. Regularly, they talked on the phone, in person, and through email.

Ultimately, with her attorney’s guidance and skill at negotiation, a satisfactory settlement was reached, one that provides for her while she plans for her future. Both parties had to compromise on some things, but, in the end, Paulette is happy with what she received and is now determined to move forward.

Last year, her divorce was finalized. The house she and her ex-husband shared was sold, and she is now living in a home of her own. She says, “Reaching a settlement is not simply about two signatures on a piece of paper; it’s about two people who once shared their lives going separate ways. It’s about people in need of support and legal expertise during a bewildering and emotional process. I am grateful for the support and excellent counsel provided me by the Rosen Law Firm.”
